Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Copperliners Publishing LLP (“Copperliners”, “we”, “us”) collects through copperliners.com, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet our obligations under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.

Who is responsible for your data

Copperliners Publishing LLP is the data fiduciary for the information described here. You can reach us at care@copperliners.com or on +91 8086908876 for any question or request about your data.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you submit an enquiry, request a publishing estimate, ask about a book, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, we collect what you choose to tell us — typically your name, email address, phone number, and details about your manuscript or project such as its subject, length and the services you are considering.

Manuscripts and related material. If you send us a manuscript, synopsis, sample chapters or supporting files, we hold them in order to assess the project and quote for it.

Payment information. Payments are handled by our payment gateway, not by us. We see that a payment succeeded or failed and the amount and reference; we never receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking credentials.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and approximate location inferred from the IP address. This comes from cookies and similar technologies described below.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry, prepare an estimate, and discuss your project with you.
  • To deliver publishing services you have engaged us for, and to administer the author agreement covering them.
  • To process payments and keep accounting and tax records we are required to keep.
  • To send you messages about work in progress, and — only if you have asked for them — occasional updates about our publishing.
  • To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.
  • To comply with law and to establish or defend legal claims.

We rely on your consent where the law requires it — for example for analytics and advertising measurement, and for marketing messages — and on the performance of our engagement with you, and on legal obligations, for the rest. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not affect what we did lawfully before you withdrew it.

Third-party services that handle data for us

We use a small number of established providers rather than building everything ourselves. Each receives only what it needs:

  • Google (Forms, Sheets, Gmail and Google Workspace) — our enquiry form, our record of enquiries and estimates, and our email.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate measurement of how the site is used.
  • Meta Pixel — measurement of our Facebook and Instagram activity.
  • Razorpay — payment processing. Razorpay handles your payment credentials under its own policy and under RBI rules.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — if you choose to start a conversation with us there.
  • Hostinger — web hosting and the server logs that come with it.

Some of these providers process data on servers outside India. Where that happens we rely on the provider’s own contractual safeguards, and we transfer data only to countries that are not restricted for this purpose under Indian law.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and analytics and measurement cookies set by Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, but some things may be less convenient and our measurement will be incomplete. Browser-level controls such as Do Not Track are not yet consistently honoured across the web, so the most reliable control is your own browser’s cookie settings.

How long we keep things

Enquiries that do not lead to a project are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Records relating to books we have published, and the accounting and tax records that go with them, are kept for as long as the law requires and as long as we may need them to establish or defend a claim. Manuscripts are dealt with in the next section. When we no longer need something, we delete it or anonymise it.

Your manuscript

Your manuscript is yours. Sending it to us does not transfer any copyright, and we do not publish, circulate, quote or use it for any purpose other than assessing and — if you engage us — producing your book. We share it internally and with the editors, designers and printers working on your project only to the extent they need it. If you decide not to proceed, you can ask us to delete the files we hold and we will do so, keeping only what we must for our records. Where a signed author agreement covers your project, that agreement governs rights in the work and prevails over this policy on that subject.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with;
  • correct or complete anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • erase data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
  • withdraw a consent you previously gave;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated.

Write to care@copperliners.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify who you are before acting. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Our services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 18 without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, and we do not direct advertising at children. Where a young author is involved in a publishing project, we deal with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child’s data has reached us, tell us and we will remove it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, access to manuscripts and author records is limited to the people who need it, and we rely on reputable providers for payments and storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that a transmission over the internet will never be intercepted — but if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you directly if the change materially affects how we handle data you have already given us.
